A- Sword: Grip is possibly shark skin, bound with silver wire; guard wrought brass in oak leaf and acorn design with USN; blade engraved USN; markings: "warranted to cut wrought iron", "FDL", "E" also, "____any & Co., New York."

B- Scabbard: leather and brass, two loops to hang from belt

Saber used by Lieutenant Commander Henry B. Rumsey throughout the Civil War from 1861 to 1865.
