Five years ago former Governor Mitch Daniels appointed a commission to oversee and implement events honoring Indiana's bicentennial. The year's festivities and commemorations came to a close with "Celebrate Indiana: Ignite the Future" on Statehood Day, 11 December 2016 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
On 13 October 2015, state and local dignitaries gathered at the History Center for the official Allen County bicentennial kickoff, which was held under the auspices of Indiana First Lady Karen Pence, the official Bicentennial Ambassador of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission. These blue and gold ribbons feature the official state bicentennial logo and were worn by officials participating in the Allen County bicentennial kickoff event.
