Title:
Boy Scout Uniform
Description:
The Scouting movement was created to support young people in their physical, mental, and spiritual development with the goal of making them constructive, valuable members of society. Scouting groups had a strong focus on the outdoors and survival skills. Boy Scout organizations began in the United States in 1910, followed shortly thereafter by the Girl Guides, which included Brownie Scouts and Girl Scouts. The American Boy Scouts, one of the earliest scouting organizations, was started by William Randolph Hearst in 1910. This American Boy Scout uniform was worn in Fort Wayne by Edwin G. Breimeier. The donor recollects that the total cost for this uniform, including hat, was $3.25, which boys were supposed to earn selling waste paper.
